DAS for Universities & School Districts

Distributed Antenna Systems for the Education Sector

The safety of students is fast becoming the main driver for DAS in many educational facilities. WiFi coverage for these locations is typically very robust, covering many areas, and providing the bandwidth needed for data-driven applications. Cellular coverage within these educational facilities provides the connections for phone calls, rather than for running apps, and must be equally robust in design.

It’s important to look at amplifying the cellular signals in each building on your campus. A strong cellular signal will provide both faculty and students the connectivity they expect and the peace of mind they need.

Uniqueness / Challenges:

Students comprise the principal share of cellular traffic. Their cellular usage is considered ‘transient traffic’, changing throughout the day, peaking at certain times. For this reason, it’s crucial that DAS be designed with coverage (safety) and capacity (busier ‘traffic’ times) in mind. To be successful, DAS construction plans will incorporate the flow through busy hallways and account for dynamic student schedules.
